Dr. Elizabeth Avery Gomez

Information Systems Researcher and Specialist

Image Elizabeth Avery Gomez is a faculty member at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)  where she earned her Ph.D. in Information Systems and her M.S. in Professional and Technical Communications. She is an NSF Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) fellow.

Dr. Gomez blends real-world project themes (i.e. crisis management and sustainability) with information communication technologies (ICT) based on her 20+ years of Fortune 100 industry experience. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses including technical writing, systems analysis and design, database fundamentals, social networking, IT service architecture and emergency management/business continuity.

Her research interests include: how information communication technology (ICT) can improve communication in crisis management, in communities of need, and for active learning. Special emphasis is placed on improving e-readiness of individuals before engaging in collaborative settings. Her research introduces a web-based training application with SMS text-message communication protocols as an approach to increase individual readiness to respond in a crisis.

Dr. Gomez is also Chief Technology Officer of Avery-Morgan Information Innovators, LLC. with emphasis on systems integration (large scale systems to mobile interoperability), program evaluations and outcomes assessment. She has been an independent consultant for over 25 years iworking with major pharmaceuticals, retail, and finance organizations specializing in business reengineering, systems integration, database design, and web development.
